The Synchrony Lab Supervisor assists the Lab Operations Manager with overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory. This position supervises Medical Technologists and facilitates accurate and timely analysis and interpretation of lab results. This individual helps ensure that the lab facility operates as per the regulatory provisions of the government and the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Leads and directs the work of Laboratory employees.
• Oversees employee training, development of lab procedures, and customer service.
• Assist the Lab Operations Manager with the day-to-day operations of Synchrony Laboratory.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOP’s.
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current team members.
• Inform Lab Operations Manager of team progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting lab operations.
• Assist Lab Operations Manager in developing and writing SOP’s.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Monitor, operate, problem solve and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Assist Lab Operations Manager in coordinating workflow to ensure turnaround times are met.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Assists Lab Operations Manager with quality control and quality assurance by ensuring that proficiency testing, instrument validations/verifications, linearities, lot to lot parallel checks and AMR’s are performed as needed.
• Report accurate and timely test results.
• Perform, coordinate, and ensure documentation of preventative maintenance and quality control.
• Responsible for assisting Lab Operations Manager in achieving departmental goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, personal management, and a healthy working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor Degree
Experience: 3-5 years
Licenses and Certifications
ASCP and/or AMT Certifications preferred
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
